Sulan was a Nautolan male Jedi Master who investigated The Force on Taris during the Cold War against the Sith Empire. He discovered sentient Nekghoul who were capable of wielding The Force, and in his efforts to ensure that their potential was not turned on the Republic, attempted to sway the Nekghoul to the light side of the Force.

During his evaluations and Nekghoul training, a Republic scientist captured by the Empire, Mola Haxtor, revealed the nature of Sulan's activities under torture, exposing Sulan's efforts. His operations were interrupted by an Imperial-aligned operative who invaded and battled Sulan to a standstill. Whether he was killed by the operative in person or whether he was killed by the Nekghouls seeing his failure is unknown.
